How to Know When to Order Your Handmade Birthday, Festival, or Celebration Outfit
There’s a reason the best-dressed women never look rushed. It’s not because they shop more. It’s not because they spend more.
It’s because they plan earlier.
And when it comes to handmade fashion, made-to-order clothing, and custom crochet celebration outfits, timing isn’t just helpful — it’s everything! If you’ve ever fallen in love with a custom handmade outfit only to realize your event was two weeks away, you've already learned this lesson the hard way.
At Willis & Cro, we call this the 90-Day Celebration Outfit Rule. And once you understand it, you’ll never panic-shop for an important birthday, trip, or special occasion again.

What Is the 90-Day Celebration Outfit Rule?
Simple: If your event is within the next 90 days, your outfit decision should already be made.Â
Not purchased last minute. Not bookmarked. Not sitting in your cart.
Scheduled!
Because handmade outfits and made-to-order crochet pieces aren’t pulled from a rack — they’re constructed specifically for you.
That means:
• Your order enters a production queue • Materials and yarn are prepared • Your custom piece is handcrafted • Final finishing and shipping happens
All before your event arrives!Â
That timeline is intentional — not slow. It’s how quality handmade fashion actually works.
Why Handmade Fashion Works Differently Than Fast Fashion
Fast fashion is built for impulse. Handmade fashion is built for moments. When you order a custom handmade outfit, you’re not buying something that already exists.
You’re reserving the time, materials, and craftsmanship needed to create it. That’s why customers ordering birthday outfits, festival looks, girls-trip outfits, or statement crochet pieces don’t shop the same way mall shoppers do.Â
They don’t wait until the week before their birthday. They don’t scramble before a trip. They don’t hope overnight shipping saves them.
They plan their entrance the same way they plan the event itself.
The Types of Events That Actually Need Early Outfit Planning
If any of these are on your calendar, the 90-day rule applies:Â
- Birthday dinners or birthday weekend celebrations
- Girls trips, travel vacations, or destination birthdays
- Winery tastings, brunch celebrations, or rooftop dinners
- Music festivals like Coachella, SXSW, or summer events
- Brand launches, business milestones, or founder celebrations
- Proposals, engagement shoots, or anniversary photos.
These are not “throw something on” events. These are photographed moments. Documented memories. Highlight-reel days. And the outfit always matters more than you think!

What Happens When You Wait Too Long
Here’s what usually happens:Â
- You find the perfect handmade outfit.Â
- You imagine the photos.
- You picture the entrance.
- You already see yourself wearing it.Â
- Then you check the production timeline… and your event is too close.
Now you’re choosing between:
• settling for something generic • hoping something arrives in time • wearing something you don’t love, not because the piece wasn’t right. Because the timing wasn’t.

What Happens When You Plan Your Handmade Outfit Early Instead
Planning early changes everything.Â
- Your piece is reserved.
- Your construction slot is secured.
- Your arrival window is confirmed.
Instead of worrying about your outfit, you get to focus on:
• the dinner reservation • the travel plans • the guest list • the celebration itself
Because the outfit is already handled. And confidence shows up differently when you know something was made specifically for you.

How to Know If It’s Time to Order Your Celebration Outfit
Ask yourself one question: Is your event within the next 60–90 days?
If the answer is yes, this is your ordering window.Â
Not next month. Not next week. Now.
That’s how bespoke, curated, and handmade wardrobes actually work!
Need Your Handmade Outfit Sooner? Here’s How Rush Orders Work
Sometimes the calendar moves faster than expected — and we understand that.
Willis & Cro does offer rush production for a $100 rush fee, which moves your order to priority status and allows it to skip the standard production queue.
Rush orders are designed for clients who already have a confirmed event date and need their handmade piece completed sooner than the normal timeline.Â
Here’s how it works:
• Your order is moved ahead in the construction schedule • Your piece receives priority production placement • Your outfit is guaranteed to arrive at least 2 business days before your event.
However, rush orders still require planning.Â
To qualify for rush production:
• Your order must be placed at least 3 weeks before your event date • Rush availability must be confirmed in advance • Only a limited number of rush slots are accepted at one time to maintain quality.
Because every Willis & Cro piece is handmade, rush production depends on current scheduling and existing rush commitments.
If you think you may need a rush order, we recommend contacting us as soon as possible to confirm availability before placing your order.

The Willis & Cro Philosophy
At Willis & Cro, every handmade crochet piece is designed for a specific moment.
Not just to wear.
To arrive in. To celebrate in. To be remembered in.
That’s why every outfit is handmade to order, so your piece exists for your event — not someone else’s. Because the best outfits don’t happen by accident. They’re planned.
